UBUNTU: How-to install XBMC on Ubuntu!

Step 1:

Start up "System" -> "Administration" -> "Software sources"

Go to Third-Party Software and select "Add...".

Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron)

• deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/team-xbmc/hardy-ppa/ubuntu hardy main
• deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/team-xbmc/hardy-ppa/ubuntu hardy main

Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex)

• deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/team-xbmc/intrepid-ppa/ubuntu intrepid main
• deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/team-xbmc/intrepid-ppa/ubuntu intrepid main

Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty Jackalope)

• deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/team-xbmc/jaunty-ppa/ubuntu jaunty main
• deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/team-xbmc/jaunty-ppa/ubuntu jaunty main

Select one of the sources (depending one the distro version number you are using) and add it.

Step 2:
Download GPG key from

Go to the Authentication tab and select "Import Key File.." and select the GPG key and import it.

Step 3:
Open up a terminal and type:

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install xbmc
